Creativity doesn’t come naturally to me but once I had a few fun website ideas there was no stopping me. Some of them were a bit crazy (they didn’t quite make the cut) and some worked (hopefully, you’ve seen them already on this page).
This week, I’ve learned how to use photoshop (and a mac) – just a few simple things like layering and cropping images but enough to be able to create the photos in vintage frames over there on the right hand side. Very fun! And I’m in love with vintage frames. Now I want some real ones for my wall – my next creative project.
My designer (aka the boyfriend) helped me with my new header – something a little ‘cleaner’ as he called it but I think it’s just a little cuter. And it’s pink.
What I’ve learned this week is that your taste changes over time (and even day to day) as ideas develop and concepts form – maybe this is what they call creativity. Now that I’ve got the bug, you’ll probably be seeing a few more changes when I’m feeling like something new and sparkly.
I’m addicted to Instagram. The world looks better through Instagram. I look better through Instagram. You can give your photo any feel that you like – want a bit more mystery (who’s that girl?), or the vintage feel (1920s yes please) or perhaps a little more warmth (anything for a bit more sunshine). Instagram can do, well, pretty much everything.
I had a lot of fun this week but what I struggled with the most was actually including myself in the pictures. Yes, this week was supposed to be about vanity and ME but all I was taking photos of was the scenery. Once I addressed my inner critic there was no going back – as you’ve probably seen from the pictures in my flickr feed. They are all me. me. me.
While after this week I’ll cut back on taking photos of myself everywhere I’ll remember that being in a photo or two isn’t the worst thing in the world. And if nothing else my mum likes to see them.
This week’s challenge: Buy a remote control for your camera & dip your toes into the pool of narcissism.
I thought all was lost when I realised that I couldn’t buy a remote control for my camera. But actually there are plenty of ways that I can be ‘excessively preoccupied with issues of personal adequacy, power, prestige and vanity’ (thanks Wikipedia).
This week I’m going to record my life on Instagram. App now downloaded.
Watch out for more pics here.
Next week’s challenge: Call a friend & ask them if they want to have a slumber party.
This week’s challenge: Turn up music you really love. Play it so loudly that it soaks in through your skin. Dance in your pyjamas. Feel the pain lift.
Luckily I have got some new groovy pjs because I’ll definitely be able to bring out my best dance moves this week. I’m going to start by downloading some new tunes (I haven’t done that for ages). After a long flight back to London from Australia, I listened to a lot of songs that I absolutely love and make me so happy to listen to!
But just one word of warning, I have been known to sing along with my dancing. Just to give you an idea of my singing ability – my two year old nephew puts his fingers over his ears whenever I break out in song. Kids don’t lie.
Next week’s challenge: Have a romance in your head.
